Welcome to our group which was started as a result of the popularity of our zoom online club; the first to be started in the UK.
Woodturning Zoom was set up at the start of the lockdown; it was born from losing touch with my local club. I missed the interaction with the network of colleagues and friends that I had made over time so I launched zoom. We have now got a club that is as near to a live club as possible; it's not about numbers or demonstrations it's about its members. We have turners from all over the world and of all levels. Each Wednesday the meeting is open from 7pm and starts at 7:30pm I will then welcome new people and introduce them. I split the large group into several small groups until 8:15pm; this allows everyone the opportunity to talk before the actual meeting officially starts. I will then run the meeting with any members that want to take a spotlight or maybe an outside supplier to do a talk. We also have a members gallery which allows wood turners to showcase their projects. |
Encouraging and PromotingEach week we have members that show case their work. In our show and tell session that has grown in popularity members enjoy showing their work and it inspires others to create their own version of work from it.

A Lasting JourneyIt's my aim to promote and encourage others to take up the hobby and inspire people to stay with it, it's a sad fact that many that start the woodturning journey lose interest with lack of inspiration or find that they get frustrated or worse hurt through lack of knowledge both are easily solved with the right people or friends around you.
